Evergreen and deciduous shade trees

When and What to Apply:

Apply Fertilome Tree & Shrub Food at the rate of 1 cup per inch of trunk diameter in February, May and September

Comments:

Apply fertilizer and water in. Working the fertilizer into the soil is unnecessary.

Plant Type:

Fruiting trees (citrus and stone fruit)

When and What to Apply:

Apply Fertilome Tree & Shrub Food, or Organo Citrus Food in February, May and September

Comments:

Trees may need additional trace elements such as iron, zinc or manganese

Plant Type:

Nut trees

When and What to Apply:

Apply Fertilome Tree & Shrub Food, or Organo Citrus Food in February, May and September

Comments:

Apply zinc to pecan trees twice annually

Plant Type:

Roses and other flowering shrubs

Comments:

Prune roses between January 1st and February 15th. Mulch in late spring. Watch for insects.

Prepare soil with blood and bone meal. Deadhead plants regularly.

Plant with bone and blood meal. Fertilize every 6 weeks during the growing season.

Comments:

Dust bulbs with insecticide and fungicide at time of planting.

Plant Type:

Geraniums 

When and What to Apply:

Fertilize with 20-20-20 weekly all season long.

Comments:

Prepare soil with blood and bone meal. Deadhead plants regularly.

Plant Type:

Acid-loving plants (azaleas, gardenias, hydrangeas)

When and What to Apply:

Water-soluble acid fertilizer every 7 to 14 days. Granulated acid fertilizer every 30 days.

Comments:

Do not feed plants when they are in bloom. Add soil sulfur and mulch spring and autumn. Water slowly and thoroughly. Do not over water.
